MICHAEL M. GRAY, JR., MANAGING ATTORNEY
Michael (Mike) M. Gray, Jr., CPL has been licensed to practice law in Texas since 2004. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, Television and Film, Mike earned his Doctorate of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University School of Law in San Antonio, Texas. Mike was a full time practicing oil and gas attorney until 2006 when he was asked to manage the Land Department of his client, Vision Gas Resources, LLC, where he oversaw the development of the Austin Chalk and Woodbine formations in Tyler and Polk Counties, Texas. In 2011, Mike became the Title Land Manager at BHP Billiton Petroleum (BHP) where he oversaw Drilling and Division Order title matters for the Fayetteville Shale, the Haynesville Shale, the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford Shale. Mike also served as a lead Landman at BHP where he oversaw operations for wells in the Haynesville Shale. Mike served as a Senior Landman at private equity backed, Sabinal Energy, LLC, conducting operations for wells in the Central Basin Platform of the Permian Basin. Prior to joining Alford & O’Brien, Mike was the Senior Vice President-Oil, Gas and Minerals Manager at Broadway National Bank in San Antonio, Texas. Mike is a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) where he serves on the AAPL Forms Committee, the Permian Basin Association of Professional Landmen, the San Antonio Association of Professional Landmen, Oil, Gas and Energy Resources Law Section of the State Bar of Texas and the San Antonio Bar Association.
